ADC deregistration suit slated for Monday 16th
A lawsuit seeking to deregister the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC and 4 other interested parties has been slated for Monday16th February, 2026.
The suit was instituted by the National Forum of Former Legislators as interested party as applicants, seeking the deregistration of ADC before the 2027 general election.
The applicants claimed in the case which was pended at the Federal High Court Abuja since December 2025, that ADC and other political parties should be deregistered for failure to meet Constitutional threshold to be eligible for continued existence as a political party.
The forum has consistently maintained that their action is aimed towards enriching and expounding Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence, insisting that there was no intention to sabotage the parties before the 2027 general election.
A member of the form of former legislators who craved anonymity said: “This case represents a crucial step towards strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions and ensuring a more credible and functional political system”.
