APC dismisses ADC’s allegation on e-registration, says claims are baseless

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants are being coerced to participate in its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, describing the claim as false, baseless and part of a disinformation campaign.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, the ruling party said the allegation was borne out of what it described as ADC’s intimidation over the “massive” and growing participation of Nigerians in the APC’s digital registration exercise.

According to the APC, the claim that civil servants were being pressured to register with the party was “entirely false” and aimed at undermining what it called the “cutting-edge and pathbreaking digitization” of its membership register.

The party further accused the ADC of engaging in deliberate misinformation, recalling what it said was the fabrication and circulation of a fake APC membership slip allegedly showing that a notorious terrorist had registered as a member of the ruling party.

“Inspired by visible gains and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, millions of Nigerians have registered and continue to register, voluntarily and enthusiastically, as members of our Party,” the APC said.

The APC insisted that the success of the e-registration exercise had unsettled the ADC, but noted that such concerns did not justify what it described as the opposition party’s resort to falsehoods.

“While the ADC continues to fumble and peddle falsehood, our great Party remains focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation,” the statement read.
