Election Deadlock: Israeli government that depends on radical Islam cannot stand threats of Iran – Netanyahu warns

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin
Netanyahu on Wednesday issued his first statement since Israel’s elections warning against the formation of a minority government dependent on Arab parties and calling for a broad national unity government under his leadership.
Netanyahu linked his opposition to such a government to the threats posed by Iran, its proxies, and radical Islam.

“The one government that certainly will not be able to confront the threat of radical Islam is a government that depends on radical Islam,” he declared.
He also accused the Arab parties of supporting terrorism and seeking to undermine Israel’s Jewish identity.

Instead, Netanyahu called on Zionist parties to join a Likud-led coalition that would include the entire national bloc.
“There is a government that can confront this challenge – a broad national government led by Likud under my leadership,” he said, accusing opposition leaders of putting political interests ahead of national interests.
