Kebbi governor Idris, marries off 600 couples, settles N250,000 dowry each

Kebbi State governor Nasir Idris has conducted a mass wedding for 600 couples drawn from poor background.

Also, the daughter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
Dr Mujidat Folashade Tinubu, was present at the massive wedding ceremony which took place in Birnin Kebbi, capital of Kebbi State on Monday.

In his remarks at the ocassion, Governor Nasir assured the people of Kebbi that his wife’s NANA’s foundation in collaboration with his administration facilitated the mass wedding in line with Islamic injunction, promising that it will continue for as long as he remains governor of the State.

The governor, his wife, Dr Nafisa Nasir Idris, had sponsored 300 females and another 300, comprising widows and disabled people, with an Islamic dowry of N250,000 settled by the government through the foundation.

While congratulating the benefiting couples, he advised them to respect the virtue of joining them as couples in marriage in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

He thanked all those who witnessed the ceremony especially the daughter of President Tinubu, Islamic scholars and dignitaries from all nooks and crannies of the state.
