Taraba senators seek urgent fix for collapsed Namnai bridge, meet FERMA boss

Two senators from Taraba State, Haruna Manu and David Jimkuta, on Tuesday paid a working visit to the headquarters of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in Abuja, seeking urgent intervention in the restoration of the collapsed Namnai Bridge.
The lawmakers were joined by Senator Babangida Oseni from Jigawa State during the visit aimed at addressing the prolonged delay in repairing the key federal infrastructure.

The Namnai Bridge, which collapsed in August 2024, has remained unattended, raising concerns over the hardship faced by commuters and communities relying on the route.
Troubled by the inaction since the incident, the senators engaged the agency’s Managing Director, Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, on possible solutions to fast-track the repair process.

Responding to their concerns, Agbasi assured the lawmakers that FERMA would carry out a proper evaluation of the collapsed structure and initiate necessary steps for its restoration.
Following the meeting, Senator Manu expressed appreciation to the FERMA boss, urging him to act promptly and do whatever it takes to ensure that a restoration plan is carried out.
