Army set to recruit 14,000 fresh officers – Source

A source within the military, though, not authorise to speak to the press has disclosed the readiness of the Nigerian Army to recruit about 14,000 new soldiers following the President’s directive.
The recruitment cut across the Nigerian Army, the Air Force and the Nigeria Navy, saying President Tinubu has given the directive.

“You know the President recently gave an order; based on that we might probably recruit 14,000”, the official said.
It was recalled that the Ministry of Interior inJune this year announced a nationwide recruitment of 30,000 paramilitary personnel into its four agencies.

Six months after, nothing to that announcement developed, but it was learnt that the ministry officials were working to commence the recruitment.
The recruitment drive was the aftermath of the November 26 state of emergency declared in security sector by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu amid surge in insurgency, banditry and kidnappings and all sorts of heinous crimes that got the attention of the United States President, Donald John Trump.
