Governor Eno, new comers dislodging us – Akwa Ibom APC old members cry out

The Akwa Ibom State old members have cried out, alleging that the State governor Pastor Umo Eno and the newly defected members were working assiduously to dislodge old members so that they have a foothold of the party.
The development has generated tension as Governor Eno was said to have dislodging the founding members of APC and marginalizing them in order to take over the structure of the party in the State.

CAPITAL POST recalled that Pastor Eno and some of his cabinet members in June last year defected to the APC amid concerns by the founding members who allayed fears that the structure of the party may be high jacked given the fact that Governors are leaders of political parties in their respective States.
Though Eno stated that his defection was in the interest of Akwa Ibom people as he will connected them with the power at the centre, moreso, that he will freely campaign for President Bola Tinubu in 2027 general election.

Despite silence by some founding fathers of APC in Akwa Ibom, a journalist and a politician, Unyime Ekwere in a post on his Facebook page on January 3, 2026 appealed to Governor Eno, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the State party leadership to carry the founding members along.
He urged the Governor to use the 8-man Congress Implementation Committee to address marginalization, but warned that “friendly but consistent feelers” suggested that some older members of the APC felt excluded from consultations and decision-making.
