APC throws 2027 presidential ticket open, despite endorsements for Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that its 2027 presidential ticket will be open to all interested party members, reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy despite widespread endorsements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, made this known on Wednesday during a press conference at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, where the leadership also celebrated its recent victories in legislative bye-elections across several states.

Argungu noted that while Tinubu continues to enjoy overwhelming support across party structures and state governments, the APC will not shut its doors to other aspirants.

“The aspiration of the people would be the wish of the party. Yes, the National Working Committee (NWC), state organs, and many zones have endorsed President Tinubu. But that does not mean the door is closed. When the time comes, our timetable will be released, and anyone who wishes to aspire under the APC will be allowed to purchase nomination forms,” Argungu explained.

He stressed that no party member would be denied the right to contest, adding, “We’ll not deny anyone that opportunity to exercise his franchise as a member of the APC. We have never said the door is closed. We only appreciate what Mr. President is doing for the good people of this country.”

Meanwhile, the APC used the event to highlight its sweeping victories in the recent bye-elections, winning federal and state constituencies in Adamawa, Edo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Niger, Ogun, Taraba, and Zamfara states.

According to Argungu, these electoral successes are a reflection of Nigerians’ confidence in both Tinubu and the APC.

“These victories are not just statistics; they are a reaffirmation of the trust Nigerians continue to place in the APC. They demonstrate the strength, resilience, and growing acceptance of our party nationwide. They reflect the belief of the Nigerian people in our capacity to deliver purposeful leadership and good governance,” he stated.
