2027: Kwankwaso denies defection rumours, reiterates commitment to NNPP

The National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has denied rumours making the round that he is preparing to defect and abandon the party ahead of 2027 presidential election, saying he remain committed to the political party.
Addressing party leaders and members during the National Executive Committee meeting of the party in Abuja, the former presidential candidate of the party insisted that it was a misplaced rumour that he was defecting.

“Many people thought today we will announce whether I will stay in NNPP or go to another party or join some individuals. That was not the intention of the meeting. We have our party, and we are comfortable and happy,” he told the gathering.
He however maintained that he is open to discussion with other political parties and individuals, but that does not mean he was planning to leave the party, adding that the NNPP was ready to offer leadership at the national level of this country.

Kwankwaso noted any dialogue to get involved at the highest level of governance will be a collective decision and not himself as an individual;
Kwankwaso was affirmed as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential contest.
NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, made the disclosure in his opening remarks.
He described him as the “visionary leader” whose experience and popularity would drive the party’s quest for national leadership.
