Nigerian Coast Guard advise against using its name to advance illegal operation, says it has qualified career professionals

The Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of the Provisionary Committee of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard, PC-NCG, has deemed it necessary to give insight into the fundamentals of its existence, duties and ultimate aim.

The PC – NCG is a body of interested parties operating on the guiding principles of Agency and acting on behalf of a larger group of qualified career professionals, while subjecting its facilitation to the control of the specific purpose of Providing in-depth facts, convincing narrations, definite figures, beneficial reasons and greatest advantages of the proposed agency, to relevant authorities, to enable them arrive at a most advantageous decision towards legally establishing Coast Guard, for the fulfilment of the destiny of Nigeria’s maritime security, safety and protection. At the same time, to fill its functional gap, for the benefit of allied stakeholders in the
maritime business activities and for balancing Nigeria’s international prestige among other nations that has Coast Guard and Coastguard international bodies or networks.

The PC-NCG is a necessary service provider that promotes easier process via the art of moving concerned group of people through fruitful meetings, planning sessions and providing concrete assistance, for the process of successfully achieving the specific goal, which is carried out within the limits of laid down standard, principles, practices, extant rules, scope of authority and reasons for facilitating the process.

The PC-NCG, discharges its duties with appropriate care and diligence. It avoids conflict of interest between the real purpose and personal interest of individuals. In the alternative, PC-NCG has readily prepared necessary grounds to effectively carry out the directives of the Decision-Makers in the event of being charged for the day-to-day management of the incoming agency. PC-NCG is well positioned to make observation where necessary, while keeping in view other sundry, alternating adjustments, helpful and healthy corrections. It is prepared to satisfactorily respond to minute by minute inquiries from relevant quarters, supporters, collaborators and those ready to join the Facilitation Team.

The process of making these services possible and achievable has not been without impeding challenges. The cluster of barriers encountered came from operators of the Nigerian Merchant Navy Groups, that law enforcement agencies and the courts have at various times described as illegal. Some of the individuals who obstructed the process were part of PC-NCG at the point of starting. But, when, after series of arms twisting moves, propaganda, ethnic, tribal, regional and divisive sentiments to force PC-NCG to use the privilege of the platform as a means of making
dishonest money, in order to satisfy personal demands for daily economic survival, could not succeed, they bolted away from PC-NCG with our documents, ideas, monies and trust.

And from the outside, they worked hard through newspaper publication, lawsuits and outright impersonation, to stop the facilitation of the creation of Nigerian Coast Guard. PC-NCG didn’t take laws into its own hands, but, reported each of those instance to relevant authorities. Glad that steps were taken to arrest their unscrupulous operation and activities. Not minding that, they have still persisted in their act.

The PC-NCG as an all-inclusive umbrella welcomes, fosters and encourages real teamwork, so that together, we can live up to providing godly, selfless, patriotic and moral services for this course, in national interest. The PC-NCG started on a patriotic and genuine note without displacing any group or person. Since then, we have remained focused on the main pursuit. We remain open, transparent and accountable, and would continue to operate within the ambit of the law. We prioritize collaboration and sees stakeholders as drivers and pillars of success. We kept relevant authorities updated on our activities. We honoured official invitation from relevant Formations and responded to inquiries that was/is within our scope. We surmounted challenges and organized distractions. We established healthy networks. We created broad based awareness for the creation of Nigerian Coast Guard. We deliver quality presentations.

We perform efficiently and reliably. We are in-touch with reality, the public and relevant authorities. The PC-NCG hereby direct groups that are yet to join it to do so, so that we can work together, for the common good of the profession and our fatherland. Die-hard economic package seekers, who have not joined PC-NCG, but, had dropped their own organization’s name and are now claiming to be our members and using the name of Nigerian Coast Guard to advance their illegal operation and activities, are hereby advised to desist from doing so. And, in their own best
interest, revert to their own Organization’s name.

Also, the national orientation exercise that has been scheduled to hold from 1st – 7th September 2025, at the Search & Rescue Ship Base Command, in Anambra State, in the name of Nigerian Coast Guard, is illegal and should be cancelled by the organizers. Government is yet to created Nigerian Coast Guard. She is yet to appoint a Chief of Nigerian Coast Guard and has not yet assigned a Rear Admiral to superintend the daily administrative affairs of the incoming Agency.

The illegalities, aberrations and gross misconduct that thrived under the illegal Merchant Navy must not tempt anybody into using that same spirit in the name of Nigerian Coast Guard. PC-NCG is the only organized group to defend the lawsuit that you people of the same Merchant Navy instituted against the facilitation of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard. All identity cards and such other documents bearing Nigerian Coast Guard, carried on by any one, and which did not or does not emanate from PC-NCG Facilitation Team, should be returned to the issuer or handed over to the nearest Police Station. In the alternative, particularly, for the sake of the innocent ones who were deceived with false recruitment, half-baked training, told that they are now soldiers, that they are now personnel of the 4th Arm of the Arm Forces, that they are now either commissioned or non-commissioned officer and were issued identity-card in the name of Nigerian Coast Guard, should return same to the issuer or the nearest Police Station
or PC-NCG.

Relevant authorities at the Federal, State, Local, District, Community levels and the general public are informed of the unpatriotic actions by the identified groups or persons. PC-NCG implores your good office to seriously and swiftly halt all illegal activities and unauthorized doings taking place within your jurisdiction in the name of Nigerian Coast Guard, the yet to be created Agency.

Members of the illegal Nigerian Merchant Navy and their associates, who have subjected PC-NCG to unwarranted court cases, and eagernessto stop the facilitation of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard, should not, for sensible reasons, be allowed to claim to be members of Nigerian Coast Guard or be allowed to use the name Nigerian Coast Guard for unapproved undertakings.

The PC-NCG is abiding with the injunctions of the Sacred Book or the Book of guidance for humankind, knowing that it is the Book which offers direction for human conduct. The Book placed emphasizes on ethical behaviour, moral principles, importance of honesty, justice and self-control. The same Book denounces vices, deceit, greed, treachery and wrong doing, among others, and prescribes adequate and appropriate action, for either extreme, which the laws of
the land takes it bearing from. Accordingly, let appropriate action be taking against an action that is horrible and unacceptable.
