Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osifo Stanley, has reaffirmed his commitment to party discipline, declaring that he will abide by whatever mode of primary election the party adopts ahead of its May 23 presidential primary.

Osifo spoke with journalists shortly after appearing before the National Working Committee (NWC)-led screening panel in Abuja on Saturday.

His position comes days after he insisted that he remained optimistic about clinching the APC presidential ticket despite endorsements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by several party stakeholders and members of the NWC.

Speaking after the screening exercise, Osifo described the process as rigorous but necessary for serious aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.

“Screening is not something you go for without expecting some form of rigorous and challenging situation. But I think we are one party, and I presented everything I had to present. I was asked all the questions, and I responded accordingly,”Osifo remarked.

On the growing conversation around whether the APC would adopt a direct primary or consensus, the aspirant said the decision rests entirely with the party’s leadership and statutory organs.

He stressed that he would remain loyal to the party regardless of the outcome of the exercise.

“Whatever position is taken, I am a party member, and I am expected to follow the rules and regulations of the party,” he added.

Osifo also dismissed suggestions that he was considering withdrawal from the race.

“When your eyes are on the plough, you move on. You don’t look back,” Osifo said.
