ISWAP confirms killing Nigerian Army General Uba, taunts military authority

The terror group, Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP has announced the execution of Brigade Commander, M. Uba which they said was captured and interrogated before killing him.
The announcement was contained in an Arabic statement published in its propaganda newsletter magazine, Amaq, ISWAP said it captured Mr Uba and executed him after he was interrogated.

The ISWAP accused Nigerian military authority of lying in their statement earlier that the Brigade Commander was safe after ISWAP ambushed his team along Damboa-Biu axis in Borno State.
The terror group claimed it was “outright lie and a miserable security failure”, on part of the military to have allowed them to capture a General which they went ahead to share photos to prove their criminal act.

A media outlet close to security circle, PRNigeria reported that the late Brigade Commander was initially safe after the ambush involving operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) on Friday night.
The military authority later denied that Uba was kidnapped after the troops repelled the terror fighters.
The statement by the Army spokesperson Appolonia Anele admitted ambush by the ISWAP against
the troops of 25 Task Force Brigade, which Mr Uba was leading, saying the brigade came under enemy “sudden and heavy insurgents fire” while returning from a routine patrol around the fringes of the Sambisa Forest.
Describing the news of Mr Uba’s abduction as a “fake narrative”, the army said four personnel, two soldiers and two members of a vigilante group, CJTF, were killed during the attack.
